Exercise Excuses

Most of us begin the New Year with the resolution to exercise and be fit. But somewhere near the middle of the year, you realize that you haven't kept up your resolution. So, what's your excuse?

The most common excuse people use for not exercising is that they do not have enough time in their busy schedule, according to a Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association report.

Approximately 87.5% of the female participants in the survey said the main reason they exercised was to control weight and 84.7% of the males said they exercised to tone their muscles.

If a busy schedule is preventing you from exercising, there is still a way to find time to exercise. Instead of exercising for 30 minutes at a time, break it up into 10 or 15 minute segments. If you are stressed out at work, use 15 minutes of your lunch break to take a brisk walk. You will find that the workout will relieve your stress better than a calorie-packed lunch treat.

Just as you keep a calendar for work, maintain a calendar of your workouts as well. This will help you keep track of your progress and stay motivated.
