CT scans are often used by doctors to monitor heart health in patients with troubling symptoms.
But did you know that one CT scan carries the radiation dose equivalent to 600 X-rays?
That’s why the American Heart Association is recommending that CT scans be used only when absolutely necessary to minimize radiation exposure.
Sound Medicine's Dr. David Crabb speaks with the author of that advisory, Dr. Thomas Gerber, associate professor of medicine and radiology at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
