Host: Steve Bogdewic, PhD
Interview: Barbara Fredrickson, PhD
Psychology professor
Positive Emotions and Psychophysiology Lab (PEP lab)
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Barbara Fredrickson, Ph.D. is author of “Positivity.”
She’s a psychology professor at the Positive Emotions and Psychophysiology Lab – also known as the PEP lab -- at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
• Frederickson has discovered that experiencing positive emotions in a 3-to-1 ration to negative emotions leads to what she calls “positivity,” meaning being more resilient and better able to handle stressful situations.
• The book distinguishes between positivity and happiness, claiming that positivity is the more expansive, encompassing love, joy, gratitude, serenity, hope, amusement, and so on.
