Interview: Margaret Gaffney, MD
Associate clinical professor of internal medicine and geriatrics
IU School of Medicine
One of the last rules made by the Bush Administration expanded the right of medical professionals to refuse to take actions that they objected to, on moral or religious grounds.
In March of 2009, President Obama reviewed the rule and rescinded it, describing the law as "overly broad."
Right after that announcement, Sound Medicine's Dr. Eric Meslin sat down with bioethicist Dr. Meg Gaffney to talk about the so-called "conscience rule" and how it applies to medical education.
