Interview: Mary Rouse, MD
Associate professor of clinical pediatrics
IU School of Medicine
Member, Academy for Eating Disorders.

At least 8 million Americans suffer from eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia.

The Charis Center for Eating Disorders is a new facility aimed at treating the full range of eating problems, whether they’re occurring in a young child or a person over 70.

Dr. Mary Rouse is a member of the staff of Charis, which comes from the Greek word for "grace."

Dr. Rouse says that because eating disorders have both physical and psychological causes, successful treatment depends on a multidisciplinary team.

The Charis Center is a division of the Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
