Show: August 16, 2009:
Health Reform Update
Interview: Aaron Carroll, MD
Director, Indiana University Center for Health Policy and Professionalism Research
Jeff Korsma, Director of Health Policy at the Mayo Clinic
We begin today with where we've spent a lot of time in past months on the intersection of health care and politics.
A new survey by researchers at Indiana University has found that when you give people under age 65 options for which kind of government-supported health insurance they might be in favor of, the answers are about the same.
That study was led by a regular guest here on Sound Medicine, Dr. Aaron Carroll, who directs IU’s Center for Health Policy and Professionalism Research.
Lewis and Carroll are joined on the phone by Jeff Korsma, director of Health Policy at the Mayo Clinic.
Korsma explains what it is about that institution that has inspired President Obama to point to Mayo as a model for health care reformers.
