Health Insurance Reform Hypotheticals
Interview: Eleanor Kinney, professor of law
Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis
Co-director, Center for Law and Health
No matter which health care reform proposal makes it through Congress, if any of them do, it is likely to include some dramatic rule changes for the health insurance industry.
For one, all of the reform proposals currently on the table would bar insurers from refusing to cover a person because of a pre-existing condition. And most of them also lift the lifetime limits on benefits.
Still, how voters feel about the various proposals often is directly tied to how they feel about their own health insurance coverage.
So we thought it would be useful to wade into some of the options with an expert in the field.
Barbara Lewis is joined by Eleanor Kinney, professor of law at the IU School of Law-Indianapolis; she co-directs the school’s Center for Law and Health.
