Developmental molecular biologist
Author, Brain Rules, 12 Principals for Surviving and Thriving at Work, Home, and School

Original air-date: May 24, 2009.

A new book called Brain Rules explains -- in lay terms -- the wonders of the human brain: how it works, how we learn, and why sleep is essential.

Sound Medicine's Dr. David Crabb spoke with the book's author, Dr. John Medina. Medina explains that the brain doesn't really multi-task -- the way we'd like to think. He also explains the optimal ways to educate children and to design a workplace.

John Medina is a developmental molecular biologist who does research on brain genetics and mental health for the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
