Health Care Reform Debate
Welcome to a special edition of Sound Medicine. I’m Barbara Lewis. Today’s program takes a break from our usual format.
Instead, we’re going to air portions of a debate held before an audience of medical students on September 11, 2009, at the IU School of Medicine.
The event was organized on the premise that the next generation of doctors will have to live and work within whatever changes Congress enacts over the next few months.
So they have a stake in understanding all sides of the issues.
Indiana’s Health Commissioner, Dr. Judy Monroe, opened the session.
We also hear from the president of Physicians for a National Health Program and from the head of Health Information Technology for Wellpoint, a major health insurance company based in Indianapolis.
In addition, we hear from a panel of other policy experts, including a few voices familiar to regular Sound Medicine listeners.
