views 304
Air date: October 11, 2009
Host: Barbara Lewis
Interview: Shia Levitt
Sound Medicine reporter
One of the trickiest questions to answer in medicine is "What’s normal?"
Your doctor can usually suggest what someone like you should weigh, or what your blood pressure or cholesterol level should be. And environmental scientists have defined safe levels of some pollutants in our air and water.
Now, those two fields are merging -- to come up with a baseline measurement of commonplace environmental chemicals in another place: our bodies.
Sound Medicine reporter Shia Levitt has more on a national effort in the emerging field of bio-monitoring.
