College Athletes at Risk for Novel H1N1
Interview: Dr. David Nieman, DrPH
Director of the Human Performance Laboratory
Professor of health and exercise science Appalachian State University
Now to the swine flu, or more properly, "novel H1N1."
The virus has already spread through a number of college football teams this fall. In fact, a CDC official recently was quoted as saying that the living, practice, and fatigue conditions of a college athletic team are just about the perfect breeding ground for a fast-spreading virus like the H1N1 variety.
Dr. David Nieman is an expert on immunity and a fellow with the American College of Sports Medicine. He speaks on the topic today with Sound Medicine's Steve Bogdewic.
Nieman is a Doctor of Public Health at Appalachian State University in North Carolina and a fellow with the American College of Sports Medicine.
