Book: In Her Wake
Interview: Nancy Rappaport, MD, child psychiatrist, assistant professor of psychiatry, Harvard Medical School
And finally this week, an adult psychiatrist who had to unlock some of the mysteries of her own childhood.
Nancy Rappaport is a child psychiatrist. When she was only four, and her parents were in the middle of a nasty divorce and custody battle, Nancy's mother committed suicide.
In her new book, "In Her Wake: A Child Psychiatrist Explores the Mystery of Her Mother’s Suicide," Dr. Rappaport tells how it took years to untangle the impact the trauma caused her. The Wall Street Journal named the book one of 2009’s Best Books on Health.
Dr. Nancy Rappaport is a child psychiatrist and an assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
