Book: In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts
Interview: Gabor Mate, MD, addiction specialist
Author, In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts
The so-called "war on drugs" has cost billions, but there are still drug addicts in every part of the U.S. and beyond.
Here’s a doctor’s perspective on that "war," now:
Gabor Mate is a staff physician at the Portland Hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is author of a new book, In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts.
He told me that even though Vancouver is often described as one of the world’s most livable cities it also has one of the most concentrated zones of drug addicts, in a 10-block square neighborhood called the "Downtown Eastside."
Dr. Gabor Mate is a doctor who treats drug addicts in Vancouver, British Columbia. His book's full title is In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction.
