Interview: Lia Logio, MD
Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency Program, IU School of Medicine
If medical residents are going to learn from mistakes, then it stands to reason that they need to be able to admit those mistakes without fear of retribution.
But a recent study found that medical residents are actually discouraged from officially reporting their own, and others’, medical errors.
Indiana University's Dr. Lia Logio is the co-author of that study. She suggests that medical educators have a role to play in improving patient safety, by helping change the culture of medical education.
