Interview: Frederick Ling, MD, cardiologist
University of Rochester, New York

Many people depend on medical devices like hip replacements, stents, and pacemakers. Wouldn't it be useful to know if a device your body depends on has been recalled by its manufacturer?

Good news. There’s now an online registry service designed to address the issue. Cardiologist Frederick Ling, MD, helped set up the online National Medical Device Registry, which is sponsored by the nonprofit Biomedical Research and Education Foundation.

Dr. Ling discusses the origin of the service and how patients and their physicians can track specific medical devices.

Dr. Frederick Ling is a cardiologist at the University of Rochester in New York.
