Patient Listening: Adoption, The Dream

IU's Dr. Rich Frankel is back with another in his series of Patient Listening conversations. In honor of Mother’s Day this week, Rich hears stories from two mothers who decided to adopt a child. Both women adopted children from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Dr. Frankel explores the motivatations of adoptive mothers the problems that arise when adopting trans-racial children.
First Frankel hears from Wendy Morrison and her husband Brent Smith the new parents of Luke, who arrived in the U.S. about a month ago. Wendy is a health economist at the Regenstrief Institute in Indianapolis. She came into the Sound Medicine studio before Luke arrived, to talk about her hopes and expectations.
